You can currently stream the first season of the popular spin-off on HBO Max. More from the world of ice and fire is not long in coming: the third season of "House of the Dragon" will be released later this year. A new poster now offers a glimpse of Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy).
When will the trailer for House of the Dragon Season 3 be released?
A social media post makes it clear: the first trailer will finally be released on February 19! As soon as it's available, you'll find it here in this article or on our YouTube channel. The third season of "House of the Dragon", on the other hand, will premiere on HBO and HBO Max in June 2026. In the meantime, you can prepare for the new season with our compact series preview!

The future of Westeros
Several other projects from Westeros are currently in development. These include the story of Aegon's conquest. You can find all the details here. An animated series about the sea snake is also in the works. All information about "9 Voyages" can be found here.
The future of the established spin offs is also certain. The second season of "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" is set to be released in 2027. The fourth season of "House of the Dragon" is scheduled for 2028. This will conclude the series about the dance of the dragons.

House of the Dragon
Expectations for the third season of "House of the Dragon" are high. What once began as a risky prequel is now a series phenomenon in its own right. When the first season aired in 2022, there was a lot of skepticism. Many fans were still deeply disappointed by the finale of "Game of Thrones". Could a new story set in the same universe bring back the magic?
Instead of relying on a multitude of parallel storylines again, "House of the Dragon" focuses on a central motif: the Targaryens' internal family power struggle. Based on the work of George R. R. Martin (the fictional history book "Fire and Blood"), the series tells the story of the "Dance of the Dragons", a civil war that shook Westeros.
Power, morality, and monsters
The focus is on characters such as Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) as well as Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) – complex characters who do not fit into classic good and evil categories. It is precisely this moral ambivalence that is a hallmark of Martin's world and a decisive factor in the series' success. Of course, the eponymous dragons are more than just CGI spectacle. They embody power, legacy, and destructive force. Each season has raised the visual bar. HBO is investing huge budgets to stage the fantasy epic at cinema level.

The development of the series
The first season in particular worked well for many fans. It relied on classic "Game of Thrones" strengths such as political intrigue and complex characters. The second season, on the other hand, received a somewhat mixed reception. For many, the season was told a little too slowly. The storyline involving Daemon in Harrenhal in particular seemed to drag on for too long. The end of the season also felt less like a classic season finale and more like preparation for season 3.
House of the Dragon Season 3
But that also gives us something to look forward to in the coming season. The Targaryen civil war threatens to escalate further. We can expect major battles, devastating losses, and turning points that will permanently change the power structure in Westeros. Above all, of course, we are looking forward to the Battle of the Gullet announced in the second season.
