Acclaimed director Christopher Nolan, known for blockbusters such as "The Dark Knight", "Inception", "Interstellar" and "Oppenheimer", dedicates this project to Homer's famous Odyssey, one of the oldest literary works in the world. The plot revolves around the mythical hero Odysseus, King of Ithaca, and his ten-year journey home after the Trojan War, during which he encounters numerous challenges and mythological figures.
The film features a top-class cast. Matt Damon will take on the leading role of Odysseus. Other well-known actors include Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron and Zendaya. Jon Bernthal, Lupita Nyong'o, Elliot Page, Cosmo Jarvis and Mia Goth are also part of the impressive cast.
Christopher Nolan is not only directing the film, but also writing the screenplay. Ludwig Göransson, who composed the music for Nolan's last films "Tenet" and "Oppenheimer" and was awarded an Academy Award for the latter, will once again be responsible for the film music.
Filming on "The Odyssey" began in February 2025. Filming took place in Italy, the UK, Morocco and Greece, using brand new IMAX film technology. The budget for the project is said to be 250 million dollars.
