San Diego Comic-Con 2025: The Film and Series Highlights
Preview of the major pop culture event
San Diego Comic-Con is one of the world's most famous and largest pop culture events. Every year, thousands of fans, artists, actors and industry representatives gather in San Diego to celebrate the world of comics, films, series, video games, and cosplay. Since its founding in 1970, the convention has developed from a small comic book fair into an international media event. Studios show exclusive trailers there, stars sign autographs, and upcoming projects are also presented.
This will be the case yet again this year: The event will take place from July 24 to July 27. Numerous panels on upcoming highlight movies and series have been announced. So here is a compact overview of what you can expect this year!
Film Highlights at the SDCC 2025
Predator: Badlands
A major highlight is certainly the panel on the new "Predator" film "Predator: Badlands". Director Dan Trachtenberg and actress Elle Fanning will be among those talking about their new movie. You can expect new details about the plot and production of the film. New footage has been announced as well. According to insider reports, a new trailer will soon be shown in cinemas ahead of "The Fantastic Four: First Steps". It is therefore possible that the trailer will also celebrate its premiere online during Comic Con. The movie can then be seen in movie theaters from November 7, 2025.

Tron 3: Ares
"Tron: Ares" will also be represented at Comic-Con. Since the first trailer was only recently unveiled, we could possibly expect footage in the form of an exclusive clip or something similar. "Tron: Ares" can be seen in cinemas from October 10, 2025.
Project Hail Mary
Ryan Gosling, one of Hollywood's biggest stars, will be appearing at Comic-Con. Together with directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and the author of the novel (Andy Weir), he will be presenting his upcoming film "Project Hail Mary". It will be interesting to see whether new footage will be presented there after the first trailer was recently released. A theatrical release date for the movie is already known: March 20, 2026!

Five Nights at Freddy's 2
Horror fans can expect the sequel to "Five Nights at Freddy's" this year. The stars in front of and behind the camera will now pay a visit to Comic-Con to talk about "Five Nights at Freddy's 2". A first teaser for the horror flick was released a few months ago. It is therefore quite possible that we will be presented with a first trailer at Comic Con. The movie will hit theaters on December 5, 2025.
Nobody 2
A separate panel is reserved for Bob Odenkirk this time. The actor will talk about his career and his most popular roles. His iconic character Saul Goodman/Jimmy McGill from "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" will certainly be discussed. But new footage from his upcoming action hit "Nobody 2" was likewise announced. The theatrical release is not far off: Starting August 15, 2025, the inconspicuous but highly dangerous ex-killer will return in "Nobody 2".

Red Sonja
There is also a look behind the scenes at "Red Sonja". The reboot is based on the comic series about the legendary warrior of the same name. She has to assemble a powerful squad of unusual fighters to challenge the tyrannical Emperor Draygan and his deadly ally Dark Annisia. The film is opening in cinemas on August 15, 2025, just like "Nobody 2".
