By Konstantin Koos on

On February 9, it's that time of the year again: the Super Bowl takes place in the United States. But it's not just football fans who are eagerly awaiting the clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. The sports event is a veritable media spectacle. For film fans, this means above all: lots of new trailers!

Disney and Marvel

And that is not set to change this year either: As the trade magazine Deadline reports, we are in for some real top-class movie trailers. For example, Disney could provide us with new film footage from "Lilo & Stich", the live-action adaptation of "Snow White" or Pixar's "Elio".

Deadline also claims to have learned that two of the three upcoming Marvel movies will be represented at the Super Bowl. These could be "Captain America: Brave New World", "Thunderbolts" with Florence Pugh and Sebastian Stan or "The Fantastic Four: First Steps". For the "Fantastic Four" reboot with Pedro Pascal, it would be the first footage ever.

Jurassic World and Mission Impossible

Universal is set to present new trailers as well. The trailers in question are for the live-action adaptation of "How to Train Your Dragon" and "Jurassic World: Rebirth". For the new part of the dinosaur franchise with Scarlett Johansson, only fixed images have been shown so far - without any prehistoric creatures. We might also be able to look forward to "M3GAN 2.0".

Meanwhile, Paramount could release trailers for the upcoming action film "Novocaine" and the new "Smurfs" movie. A new trailer for "Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning" could also be waiting for us. The past movies in the series were always represented with a commercial at the Super Bowl.

February 9 will once again provide us with a great preview of many blockbuster releases. For some films, there's already a trailer. So it's always worth keeping an eye on our YouTube channel. For example, you can watch the first trailer of "How to Train Your Dragon" here!

Recap of the last two Mission Impossible films

So that you are well prepared for "Mission Impossible 8: The Final Reckoning", we take another look at the film's two predecessors: "Mission Impossible 6: Fallout" and "Mission Impossible 7: Dead Reckoning".

The series is known for its spectacular stunts, complex storylines and the unwavering determination of Tom Cruise's character Ethan Hunt to save the world. The last two films in the series continue this tradition. But that's not all: many fans even consider the sixth part to be the best in the series.

Mission Impossible 6: Fallout

In "Mission Impossible 6: Fallout", Ethan Hunt is confronted with the consequences of his actions after a failed mission. He and his team were unable to prevent nuclear weapons from falling into the hands of arms dealers. Hunt must now do everything in his power to recover them. But his decisions in the past cost him dearly: Solomon Lane, the leader of the syndicate from the previous movie, becomes a threat again.

Hunt is scrutinized by the CIA and Agent Walker is assigned as his partner to ensure he succeeds in the task. The relationship between Hunt and Walker becomes characterized by mistrust as it becomes clear that Walker is pursuing his own interests. Ethan must also deal with the moral consequences of his work, as his constant drive to save lives leads him to jeopardize both his own safety and that of his colleagues.

The hunt for the plutonium cores takes Ethan and his team through a series of breathtaking locations, from Paris to the Alps, where one of the most spectacular helicopter chases takes place.

Mission Impossible 7: Dead Reckoning

"Mission Impossible 7: Dead Reckoning" continues the story of Ethan Hunt and takes the audience into a new era. Here, Hunt faces a dangerous adversary: an AI known only as "The Entity". This AI is so powerful that it can make strategic decisions worldwide, making it a massive threat to global security.

The central conflict scenario of "Dead Reckoning" revolves around the hunt for a dangerous "key" that gives access to the Entity. This key is divided into two parts, which Hunt and his team - along with other questionable allies - must gather in a race against time. On the opposing side is Gabriel, a ruthless assassin with a personal connection to Ethan.

In addition to the classic action sequences that made the "Mission Impossible" series famous, "Dead Reckoning" offers emotional depth as Ethan struggles with the effects of his life as a secret agent and the losses he has suffered. Old allies like Luther and Benji are once again by his side, while new characters like Grace, a mysterious woman who has an agenda of her own, bring more elements to the plot. The ending of the film is left relatively open, knowing that the story will continue in the eighth installment of the series.

Both "Mission Impossible 6: Fallout" and "Mission Impossible 7: Dead Reckoning" offer an exciting mix of action-packed stunts, intense chases and moral conflicts. In "Fallout", Ethan Hunt is confronted with the consequences of his previous decisions, while in "Dead Reckoning" the question of control over technology and artificial intelligence arises as a central threat. We are now eagerly awaiting the sequel this year. You can take a first look at the eighth installment of the series here.
