Who is the villain in The Batman 2?
According to Matt Reeves and his co-writer Mattson Tomlin, it was clear from the start that Bruce Wayne would be at the center of the sequel. They also chose the new antagonist on this basis. The antagonist will delve deep into Bruce's life and past. Reeves has not yet revealed who exactly they have in mind. He merely hinted that it is something that has never been done before in a film – leaving plenty of room for speculation.
It remains to be seen what role the Joker will play. As a reminder, he already made a brief appearance at the end of "The Batman", played by Barry Keoghan. There is also a scene between the Joker and Batman that did not make it into the finished film, but was later released as a deleted scene. For many, this was a clear indication that the Joker could also play a role in the sequel.
However, Keoghan's renewed commitment has not yet been confirmed. And after Reeves' latest statements, it is at least doubtful that the Joker will be the main antagonist of the sequel. Nevertheless, many things are conceivable: After all, few Batman films have focused on a single antagonist.

Scarlett Johansson and her most popular films
Scarlett Johansson has been one of the defining faces of Hollywood for years. From sophisticated independent cinema to big blockbusters and Academy Award nominated dramas, she has shown an impressive range.
Breakthrough in Hollywood
Johansson's international breakthrough came with Sofia Coppola's "Lost in Translation". In the role of the pensive Charlotte, who meets the ageing actor Bob Harris (Bill Murray) in Tokyo, she gave a subtle, emotional performance that delighted critics and audiences alike. The film became a modern classic and remains one of her most defining performances to this day.
Johansson once again demonstrated her talent for complex characters in Woody Allen's "Match Point". She then played the assistant of a competing magician duo (Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale) in Christopher Nolan's "The Prestige". The film is considered one of the best mystery thrillers of the 2000s.

As Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Johansson became known to a worldwide mass audience primarily through her role as Natasha Romanoff, alias Black Widow. From "Iron Man 2" to "Avengers: Endgame", she developed the character into one of the central heroines of the MCU. Her solo film "Black Widow" finally gave the character the backstory she deserved and recognized her contribution to the franchise.
Further film highlights
In Spike Jonze's melancholy vision of the future "Her", Johansson voiced the AI operating system Samantha – and proved that she can also have an enormous emotional impact purely vocally. Although she never appears in the film, her portrayal is considered one of the most touching performances of her career.
Another highlight is her performance in "Marriage Story". For her role as Nicole Barber, who finds herself in a painful divorce with her husband (Adam Driver), Johansson received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. The film by Noah Baumbach is considered one of the strongest relationship portrayals of recent years and showed Johansson at the peak of her dramatic abilities.
In recent years, she has also appeared in the popular film "Jojo Rabbit", Wes Anderson's "Asteroid City" and most recently in "Jurassic World 4: Rebirth". There are already rumors that she will also be in "Jurassic World 5".
