Overview

The series is inspired by the true story of a group of characters struggling to survive in the brutal East End of London in the 1880s. Hezekiah Moscow and Alec Munroe, his best friend from Jamaica, find themselves bare-knuckled in the criminal underworld of London's boxing scene. As Hezekiah rises to fame and fortune through the art of boxing, he attracts the attention of the infamous Queen of the Forty Elephants, Mary Carr, who wants to exploit his talents for her criminal schemes. Meanwhile, the menacing and self-proclaimed ruler of the East End boxing world, Sugar Goodson, decides to destroy Hezekiah, whose ambitions to fight in the West End threaten everything he has built. What follows is a battle between the old world and the new.
